What You Will Achieve

ROLE SUMMARY

This position will lead a top-tier Program Management team to execute and deliver a portfolio of capital, operations, and expense projects for Pfizer's Global Workplace Experience organization in a designated region. The role involves leading a cross-functional team, both internal and external, consisting of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Safety Coordinators and a project support team within the Project Management Office. Reporting to the Project Management Lead of Global Workplace Experience, this role is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective completion of projects, aligned with Pfizer's strategic objectives.

This role will have responsibility for all GWE projects at the following sites/locations:

  • Groton, CT

  • New Haven, CT

  • Cambridge, MA

  • Andover, MA

  • St. Louis, MO

  • Kirkland, QC

How You Will Achieve It

Program Strategy & Planning : Develop and maintain a program management plan for a portfolio of projects across multiple sites, maintain a program resource plan, managing procurement strategies, monitor and control program risks, issues, and changes, and ensure program deliverables achieve cost, schedule and quality targets.

Project Management : Develop and execute real estate projects, manage project scope, cost, and schedule, report on project status, monitor project performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain effective communication with stakeholders (Research Units, Commercial Business Units, Facilities, EH&S, Security, etc), hold stakeholders accountable to project plan milestones, and project team roles and responsibilities, and provide regular updates to GWE leadership.

Team Management: Manage a team of Project Managers, provide guidance and support, evaluate and assign projects, review and approve invoices and timesheets, and develop and manage client relationships. Facilitate regular project status and governance meetings. This role will manage direct reports each located at the Groton, CT and Bothell, WA.

Continuous Improvement : Continuously assess and improve program management processes, drive continuous development of the program, and develop and implement tools and processes to manage project risk, estimates, costs, and resources.

Portfolio Execution: Align program execution with Pfizer's GWE organizational and global goals, monitor compliance with policies and standards, and communicate status of active client portfolio to the Project management Lead and/or the PMO Lead.

Capital Planning: Support the capital planning process with development of scope, cost estimates, cash flow, and schedule used to inform the business case and funding requests.

Design Standards: Ensure implementation of Design Standards and Workplace Guidelines are embedded into the project delivery process.

Project Safety & Environmental Health: Manage project execution that implements Pfizer's environmental, health & safety standards and construction safety programs while adhering to agreed milestones and program KPIs. Responsible for contractor safety program implementation and performance within the program of projects managed.

Project Audits : Perform program level and individual project audits to confirm compliance with safety, financial, procedural and other standards.

Reporting: Develop and generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including the volume of work executed, relevant KPIs, team members and team structure, processes and process improvements, and feedback from end users.

Training: Ensure all team members are suitably trained and organize up-skilling courses as required, providing all necessary tools and resources to successfully execute and deliver projects efficiently and effectively.

Vendor Management: Source, negotiate and execute project services and construction supplier agreements. Review and approve invoices, evaluate KPI's and performance to the degree of the agreement.

Invoice & Cost Tracking: With support from the project controls team and PMO, review all invoices for projects in program for accuracy and compliance to contractual commitments.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, preferably in real estate and facilities or engineering

  • Experience in managing large-scale (up to $250M), complex programs with multiple projects and stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions.

  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop and manage program budgets.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels

  • Ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others

  • Ability to work with Project Managers to develop a project execution plan

  • Facilitation, Negotiation & Problem Resolution Skills

  • Ability to build a strong network and relationships with external consultants and vendors

  • Demonstrate professional, high integrity, trustworthy and ethical behavior always

  • Advanced level of critical thinking, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills

  • Authority to delegate and monitor work completion, timely and accurate, across teams

  • Demonstrated sound judgment and ability to make effective decisions independently with minimal escalation to or supervision from manager

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and software

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and ability to handle ambiguity

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience dealing with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)

  • Experience implementing sustainable design and building practices

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree in a related field or professional certifications

  • Familiarity with real estate and construction software, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud

  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role in project management

  • Experience with GxP and GMP environments preferred

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform complex problem solving and analysis of financial, logistics and engineering issues

  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and safety standards in real estate and construction

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately 50% travel is expected.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $131,200.00 to $218,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
