Health Information Specialist Job Location Other-Remote Office ID 2024-11533 Status Full Time Shift Day Schedule Mon - Fri Hours of Work 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Responsibilities This position will, based on workload, maintain a variety of roles within the Health Information Department for all sites/locations. Responsibilities may include: monitoring paper charts and making sure purge process and MPI is accurate, providing responses to requests in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accuracy of request to amends, providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service, ensuring the patient and their customers receive health information in a timely manner, assisting in monitoring the integrity of the medical record through continuous audit, reporting, and analysis of trends that can be reported for training and performance review functions, and supporting the Health Information Department as needed. Monitor the Master Patient Index (MPI) and purge process to ensure patient information is accurate and accessed from the same location within the electronic health record, as appropriate. Release patient records to third parties according to state and federal regulations as well as organizational policy, as appropriate. Perform health record audits according to current audit procedures, as appropriate. Provide a variety of other support functions within the Health Information Department as needed and assigned by the Manager of Health Information. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Must be able to multi-task effectively 1-2 years health information office experience Proven customer service experience and/or training Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with release of patient record information Knowledgeable in privacy regulations Experience with Windows, Excel Associate's Degree or equivalent experience Overview The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is the largest nonprofit addiction recovery organization in the United States.
