JOB SUMMARY: General retail clerk duties.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of one (1) year experience in one or more of the following fields preferred: retail and customer service
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Interacts with Thrift Store customers and referral clients
Creates and maintains store displays and shelves
Prices and inventories merchandise and donations
Cleans and maintains retail and production areas
Cleans the outdoor area of the Thrift Store and maintains/cuts the grass around the yard/parking area.
Carry out special projects as assigned by management
Serves on the Emergency Disaster Services team as approved by Corps Officers and directed by the Operations Manager/ EDS Liaison
Respond to disaster exercises and actual disasters

Manage and prioritize multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; travelling by various means, including aircraft.
COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephones; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies
SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
Retail sales or other related experience
Pleasant demeanor and ability to work closely with the general public
Prioritize multiple work tasks to meet tight deadlines
Travel off-island as necessary
EQUIPMENT NEEDS: Use cash register, facsimile, video surveillance equipment, calculator, other office equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor and Outdoor at the Thrift Store; meetings and other activities at the Administrative Offices and at other Salvation Army venues.
