S&P Global Senior Engineer Database Engineering in Gurgaon, India

The Team: You will be part of a world class Product Services & Engineering team architecting various solutions for business requirements within different product offerings of S&P Dow Jones, used by tens of thousands of users globally. The team is responsible for ensuring cloud solutions that deliver Greater Reliability & Resilience, High Performance, High Availability and Scalability.

The Impact: You will utilize your technical knowledge and analytical skills in architecting and optimizing cloud infrastructure, standardizing technology stack for cloud & data centers, implementing cloud service catalog and service governance solutions, and driving implementation of our cloud first strategy and cloud adoption in partnership with development & business stakeholders.

You will be part of a talented team of engineers in our Solutions Engineering team that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for supporting a large-scale deployment and all underlying systems related to supporting cloud computing workloads and IT project deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS (required))

  • Experience with AWS Global Aurora Postgres and Global Aurora MySql. (Open to work on other AWS available databases)

  • Experience with database monitoring & administration tools.

  • Experience in design configuration standards for RDBMS and Non-RDBMS databases.

  • Experience in developing database engineering solutions for RDBMS and Non-RDBMS databases.

  • Experience in enforcing database security policies and audit logging mechanisms.

  • Experience in database automation provisioning, upgrades, security patches & monitoring.

  • Experience in defining database backup, recovery, retention, and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Experience in providing solutions to optimize database performance and improve standards.

  • Experience in Implementing highly available & fault-tolerant solutions to withstand system failures.

  • Experience with Data Lake and Data Warehousing applications.

  • Knowledge of design data sharding, partitioning, and BigData solutions (EMR and EMR serverless)

  • Knowledge of servers, virtualization systems, storage, and network engineering.

  • It is good to have experience in database activity stream(DAS).

  • Good to know MSK/OpenSearch.

  • Maintain database configuration, support procedures, and runbook.

  • Manage and execute disaster recovery plans and coordinate change control process.

  • Troubleshoot Production issues and provide workarounds to restore business continuity.

  • Provision and administer RDS, Aurora, and other databases in AWS Cloud.

  • Recommend hardware and right-sizing infrastructure.

  • AWS Database Certification is desirable.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience

  • AWS Certification and Database Certification preferred

  • Expertise in on-premises and cloud databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure SQL Database, etc

  • 10+ years of experience in Database

  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP) and cloud database strategies.

  • Able to work in a diverse team

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Candidates should have a minimum of 10+ years industry experience in a Databases and Databased in the Cloud.

  • Extensive problem solving and debugging skills

  • Experience in providing services to agreed SLA’s and OLA’s.

  • Experience with Patching and experience in troubleshooting & supporting applications running on varied databases.

  • Experienced in Problem and Incident Management supporting a large corporation

  • Experience with working in an ITIL framework

  • Provision databases in AWS and manage resource utilization.

  • Experience with monitoring platforms and configuration management systems

  • Engineer storage solutions, content replication, meet performance requirements.

  • Deploy systems monitoring and reporting solutions.

  • Participate in Risk Assessment reviews, audits.

  • Respond to critical production issues and provide immediate workarounds to maintain business continuity.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
