The Role: Senior Site Reliability Engineer

T he Team: The Mobility Division within S & P Global leverage technology and data science to provide unique insights, forecasts and advisory services spanning every major market and the entire automotive value chain—from product planning to marketing, sales, and the aftermarket. The Tech Ops Team works collaboratively, both internally and across our customer base, operating in a sharing and learning culture to maintain continuous access to our products.

The Impact: The Mobility Division within S&P Global are seeking an experienced and driven Site Reliability Engineer who is passionate about delivering high-value, high-impact solutions to the world’s most demanding, high-profile clients. The role encompasses building and maintenance of IT environments to support existing and new product offerings for the Mobility Division. The candidate should have experience with developing and deploying cloud-based infrastructure solutions in AWS. He will also had past experience in supporting On-Prem/VMC environment. The candidate should possess a passion for automation, be comfortable in a regulated environment, and be willing to learn new technologies that are part of the AWS orchestration.

Site Reliability Engineer responsibilities include monitoring our server environments (VMC and AWS) and building alerts for various operational issues that computer systems can experience.

Ultimately, you will work with our IT team to ensure our organization can continue to deliver products and services in our environment.

What’s in it for y ou:

This role will provide you with an opportunity to leverage your analytical abilities to enable optimal solutions in AWS. This role will also enable you to expand your knowledge and skill level with the AWS environment. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to mentor team members who are less experienced in AWS.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze metrics from operating systems as well as applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding

  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.

  • Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacityplanning.

  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation

  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service-level objective

  • Day to day management of VMC/AWS Infrastructure

  • Build and document automation processes for Infrastructure as a Service/Infrastructure as code.

  • Backup and Patch management

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for someone who has

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science or related discipline with at least 10 years of experience

  • Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving ability along with strong written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and non-technical ways.

  • A strong capacity for teamwork and a sense of ownership and able to work independently and be self-driven.

  • Hands on Experience with Linux Server, AD, LDAP, DNS, Network Storage, AWS Compute services (EC2, FSX, Managed AD, Route 53, etc…)

  • Ability to program using scripting with tools or languages, such as Powershell, Python, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform and Bash

  • Familiarity with ITSM processes like Incident, Problem and Change Management using ServiceNow (preferable)
