Aston Carter AP Specialist in Hanover, Maryland

Description:

As an Accounts Payable Associate you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial transactions within our organization. Your responsibilities will include processing accounts, managing payments, and maintaining records. Proficiency in PeopleSoft and Excel is essential for success in this role. Essential duties in this role include:

o Review payable accounts to ensure proper recording of information.

o Verify that records contain appropriate authorization for payment.

o Enter payment information into the Accounts Payable System (using PeopleSoft).

o Maintain all Accounts Payable and Expense Report files.

o Register new vendors within the accounts payable system.

o Process accounts payable checks.

o Verify and post accounts payable transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records.

o Support Financial Department:

o Train the financial department regarding PeopleSoft Accounts Payable module and other related programs and procedures.

o Act as a resource for the accounts payable team.

o Data Management:

o Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions.

o Handle discrepancies and unapproved/unpaid invoices.

o Match and batch check runs.

o Manage W9 and W8-BEN data.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

o Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.

o Familiarity with accounting systems.

o Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.

o Strong attention to detail.

o Excellent organizational and communication skills.

o Ability to handle ad hoc requests from management.

o Previous experience in accounts payable or related roles.

o Knowledge of general accounting procedures.

o Ability to maintain proper backup files for research and reference.
