Nexstar Media Group IT/Broadcast Maintenance Technician in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
WHTM abc27, part of Nexstar Media Group, is looking for a dedicated and skilled IT/Broadcast Maintenance Tech nician to join our Engineering Department. In this role, you’ll provide comprehensive tech nical support for both IT and broadcast operations, ensuring that all systems are optimized for smooth production and minimal downtime. This is a dynamic position where your expertise will play a crucial role in maintaining the high-quality broadcasts and IT infrastructure that power abc27.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and troubleshoot all IT and broadcast equipment within the facility to ensure operational excellence.
Install, maintain, and support the station’s IT infrastructure, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, and PCs.
Perform routine maintenance on broadcast equipment, including audio, video, and control systems.
Review, update, and maintain system design documents and tech nical drawings.
Collaborate with the Engineering team to develop and implement audio, video, and IT solutions that meet the station’s needs.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly, especially during live broadcasts, to minimize downtime and ensure on-air continuity.
Assist in the successful completion of new initiatives, tech nical upgrades, and operational projects.
Interface with internal users and external vendors to diagnose, implement, and resolve system issues.
Maintain strong knowledge of master control and broadcast operations to support live and recorded broadcasts.
Provide tech nical support for remote broadcasts, ensuring that all systems are functioning correctly in both studio and field environments.
Requirements & Skills:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, IT, Broadcast Tech nology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or SBE are a plus.
2+ years of experience working as a Maintenance Tech nician at a television station or similar tech nical role.
Strong understanding of IT networking, firewalls, RF, fiber optics, and encoding/decoding tech nologies.
Familiarity with remote desktop applications and VPNs is preferred. Experience with Adobe editing systems is an advantage.
Proficiency in both Windows and Mac operating systems, with the ability to troubleshoot across different platforms.
Experience with broadcast audio, video, and control systems.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tech nical concepts to non- tech nical staff.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and independently on projects.
Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
Physical capability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds, work in varied weather conditions, and climb ladders as required.
