DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A Labor Mediator is responsible for providing impartial, professional mediation services to assist with labor negotiations and for providing related training and services to the parties. You work to facilitate successful resolutions through arranging conferences, assisting in the development of compromises, and maintaining effective working relationships with contacts across labor unions, employers, advocates, and related civic groups. Please note: This position will be responsible for providing mediation services primarily within the Western Region of Pennsylvania. Accordingly, preference will be given to candidates that live in Allegheny or Beaver County, and candidates must be able and willing to travel to the areas of assigned coverage on a regular basis.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Hours vary dependent upon work assignments and routinely include evenings and weekends. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of progressively responsible experience in the field of labor-management relations and two years of experience in labor contract negotiations, administration, or mediation which includes or is supplemented by one year of collective bargaining experience; or A bachelor's degree with major course work in labor-management relations, industrial management, or personnel administration and two years experience in labor contract negotiations, administration, or mediation which includes or is supplemented by one year of collective bargaining experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training with two years of experience in labor contract negotiations, administration, or mediation which includes or is supplemented by one year of collective bargaining experience.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Allegheny or Beaver counties. Legal Requirements: This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
