DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Legal Assistant 1, you process incoming challenge forms, then assign the forms to Legal Assistant 2s. You identify any defects with incoming challenge forms and inform the assigned Legal Assistant 2 of the issues. You also research the denial challenge log through the computer and prepare a file for the legal assistant on challenges that do not have a denial file. In addition, you maintain section files regarding denials, challenges, and mental health records.

Other duties include assisting with processing incoming petitions for relief from firearm disability. You also assist with reviewing and logging petitions, preparing files for hearings, and determine eligibility for applicants to possess firearms by reviewing assorted records. In addition, you must communicate any relevant information regarding files to the Pennsylvania Instant Check System Challenge Section supervisor or Office of Chief Counsel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Additional Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirement: You must pass a background investigation and a criminal history check. This position issubject to the promotion provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
