When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us. The Women’s Health Services (WHS) division here at Hartford Hospital is comprised of three units: Labor and Delivery (N6), Maternity (B6), and Women’s Health (N8). N6 Labor and Delivery has 16 labor/delivery/recovery beds, 5 obstetric triage beds and a surgical suite with 3 ORs for cesarean deliveries. Hartford Hospital is designated the Special Deliveries Childbirth Center and delivers approximately 4,000 babies each year. B6 Maternity is a 38 bed unit who provides holistic care to mothers and newborns. Maternity staff work closely with the obstetrical, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care teams to provide high quality family centered care. N8 Women’s Health is a 29 bed medical/surgical and high risk obstetrical unit serving the unique needs of all women. The North 8 patient population includes high risk antepartum women, postpartum women whose babies are in the NICU; women recovering from gynecological, uro-gynecological, gyn-oncology, or surgical procedures; or women admitted for medical management not requiring telemetry. All three units work closely together to support the needs of women. Job Summary Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others for a patient population within a unit, service or other primary area of practice with an awareness of the episode of care. Applies the nursing process within the context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice. Functions as clinically competent. Delegates and supervises work appropriately. Reports to Unit Manager. · Current Connecticut RN License · Graduate from an accredited nursing school (ASN applicants must complete BSN program by the time of transfer) · BLS certification by the American Heart Association We take great care of careers.
