JOB SUMMARY This position is accountable for regular inspection of work in process or completed on the shop floor.  The incumbent is accountable for assuring that components produced meet internal designed manufacturing specifications and external relationships as set by the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as needed. Conducts inspections on component parts, fasteners, and assemblies.  Assures compliance with specifications and maintains accurate records in accordance with quality control procedures. Assures components, fasteners, and assemblies meet design and manufacturing specifications.  Provides assistance to Quality Assurance auditors when requested. Assures components, fasteners, and assemblies have been properly prepared for the next operation step.  Knowledge of manufacturing process is essential. Collaborates with Production Control, QC Manager, QA Manager and QA staff to assure problems and/ or concerns are satisfactorily resolved. Communicates issues of concern and improvement to the QC Manager and QC Lead personnel. Assures shop floor personnel are aware of the latest quality standards and requirements.  Educates shop personnel regarding inspection procedures and the use of measuring instruments. Maintains accurate records of inspection activities on quality control inspection forms.  May be called upon to conduct SPC analysis in conjunction with production personnel. Provides assistance to manufacturing areas, within scope of background and experience, in direct labor in the manufacturing of products as required. Assures safety precautions are observed at all times including the use of safety glasses and safety shores. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) High school diploma or equivalent. Three to five years metal machining or quality inspection experience. Ability to read, write and use a computer Full understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection experience. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Must have 20/20 vision with or without correction. Knowledgeable in the use of standard measuring instruments. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Manufacturing environment. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.  Must be able to grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow and reach.  Must have the ability to position self to move, install/takeout, adjust, position, measure, and handle parts and materials.
