This position is accountable to oversee all classroom functions and work as a member of the classroom team, consistent with the Head Start (HS) Performance Standards, ITERS/ECERS, Agency and Program Policies and Procedures, and N.C. Child Care licensing regulations. This includes planning, coordinating, and supervising a classroom environment that promotes each child's total development (i.e. social, physical, emotional, cognitive and nutritional) while promoting positive, open communication with parents and children.

What You'll Do:

• Coordinates the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that addresses the educational, social, emotional, nutritional and physical development of the children.
• Uses positive guidance methods such as redirection and reinforcement; reasonable and consistent guidelines and anticipates problem areas in advance when possible.
• Adapts lesson plan, method of instruction, use of classroom materials, level of assistance, and learning environment as needed to meet the needs of children having a disability according to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP/IFSP).
• Plans and supervises activities within all learning environments (i.e. the classroom environment, outdoors, field trips).
• Maintains accurate records related to health, nutrition, education, and family services, to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal documentation requirements.
• Develops and implements lesson plans that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of children.
• Encourages and promotes family achievements by helping families obtain resources and supports that enable them to reach their identified goals.

What You'll Have:

• Associate's degree required in Early Childhood or an associate's degree in a related field with course work equivalent to a degree in ECE.
• Two or more years experience teaching pre-school aged children.
• NC Pre-k Teachers must also have a Pre-K Add-on or BK Licensure.
