AWS Global Deal Strategy & Programs (GDSP) organization is instrumental in driving deal strategy, structuring, negotiations, and execution of private deals. These private deals consist of large, strategic, or highly competitive commercial deals. AWS GDSP Approvals team is responsible for defining and maintaining approvals policies, tools and processes worldwide. We are looking for a talented Senior Manager for approval policies

Amazon Web Services (AWS) GDSP Approvals Team is looking for a talented Sr Manager, Approvals Policies to support AWS’ dynamic and rapidly growing business. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the "cloud" computing and service industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, delivery, database services, browsers and more.

You will be responsible for centralizing approvals-related policies and processes to ensure consistent application of Amazon Policies and Private Pricing Program mental models while improving operational efficiencies to maximize deal velocity and maintain highest standards.

You will distill diverse inputs from large internal customer segments and stakeholders to set a vision, design strategy, and achieve consensus on goals and priorities; work with internal or external cross-functional teams to build scalable policy and process improvements that increase operational efficiencies; participate in mentoring and peer development, whether directly or via development of materials; and be willing to roll up their sleeves and build with us.

This role can be located in any AWS Hub Location.

Key job responsibilities

• Single threaded owner of all S&TP approvals policy related initiatives.

• Leverage your organizational experience, advanced business judgement, and understanding of the impact on stakeholders to drive goals to completion.

• Define and centralize the S&TP approval policies in alignment with organizational strategy

• Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to identify, investigate, and resolve existing deal approval policies blockers, gaps, and pain points that impact deal velocity.

• Identify opportunities and define the roadmap to achieve organization-wide objectives while, streamlining or eliminating excess processes.

• Influence teams to decouple dependencies and eliminate problems that stifle innovation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business economics, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, information technology or equivalent

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience

  • 10+ years of business operations experience (may include finance, legal or other comparable experience) leading end-to-end transformational initiatives.

  • 5+ years of experience defining and implementing policies and guidelines in global roles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of demonstrated success in managing multiple large-scale projects autonomously, collaborating with technical and non-technical teams and directly engaging with senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence and drive stakeholder decisions without direct authority.

  • Executive level document writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Legal or finance background demonstrating a high level of analytical aptitude.

  • Ability to lead by demonstrating sound judgment in ambiguous situations

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
