Job Description

The opportunity

This position will report to Head of Equity and be responsible for (i) investment research and (ii) portfolio management tasks.

Responsibilities

1. Investment Process / Philosophy : To maintain a thorough understanding of the investment philosophy and process of this Investment Centre and a general understanding of the philosophy and process for Manulife Investment Management as a whole. To comply with this philosophy and process at all times and to be proactive in suggesting improvements to the process and to the Head of Equity.

2. Investment Research : To be responsible for research on assigned stocks and sectors coverage, including but not limited to (i) To produce in-depth sector and stock research to the required standard; (ii) To produce on-going monitoring reports and updates for holdings in portfolio; (iii) To establish and maintain credibility with senior management of your coverage; (iv) To assist team in ad-hoc research projects based on requests from Head of Equity

3. Portfolio Management: Based on the company’s arrangement, this position is assigned to assist Head of Equity in portfolio management works or manage mutual funds portfolio.

4. Presentation Skill / Teamwork Skill: To be able to deliver your idea in logical and coherent manner to facilitate and bolster the collective intelligence of the team

5. Support: To support other (investment) teams within MIM, in particular the Global Sector team and Asia regional teams. Additionally, to support client service, marketing and consultant relationships as required in a timely, professional and pro-active manner.

6. Compliance: To maintain a full understanding of, and to comply with, all local regulation, legal, corporate and client mandate requirements that impact your role within MIMV. Targets for no monetary errors. When they do take place, to ensure that any breaches of these are promptly and fully reported to the Head of Equity and the Compliance Officer.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree required; May hold advanced degree and/or CFA designation, Fund Management Certification

  • Typically has 5+ years of experience in asset management, with 3+ years of dedicated investment analysis experience.

  • Good understanding of business and economics to research target companies & sectors and recommend potentially profitable investmentsAbility to work well with multiple levels of internal and external contacts; strong communications skills to effectively convey recommendations & rationale.

  • Proficient knowledge of Bloomberg and other investment tools/databases

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to complete detailed fundamental analysis

  • Sense of judgment and self-discipline to evaluate multiple opportunities and make appropriate investment decisions
