Healthfirst Sr Application Developer (Tableau) - Remote in Home Office, Massachusetts

The Senior Developer - Tableau designs and develops programs/processes that automate specific business processes by working with various business units/departments and a broad variety of stakeholders to satisfy their requirements. The Sr. Developer - Tableau will use analytical and problem solving skills in creating the visualization of a variety of data.

PROGRAM ANALYSIS•Consult with clients to analyze and understand functions to be automated, client needs, objectives, desired features, and input and output requirements.•Analyze, define, and document system requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.•Analyze and estimate feasibility, time, compatibility with other systems, and computer capabilities.•Analyze, assist installs, and test upgrades of internally/externally developed application programs.PROGRAM DESIGN•Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and time tables for developing, testing, and installing applications.•Design and code screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.•Demonstrate expertise in one or many of Healthfirst's programming languages.CONVERSION AND DOCUMENTATION•Write and maintain functional and technical specifications. Convert designs and specifications into computer code.•Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.•Write documentation or review documentation written by others which describes installation and operating procedures.TEST AND REVIEW•Create test scenarios and run test to find errors and confirm program meets specifications.•Analyze codes to find causes of errors and revise programs.•Consult with clients to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to attain client approval.•Analyze, assist installs, and test upgrades of internally/externally developed application programs.TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  • Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with program.

  • Trains end users or technical support staff to use programs.

  • Monitors performance of programs after implementation.

  • Collaborates with end users, project stakeholders and support partners to identify needs, goals and work with them to design and build dashboards.

  • Orients new users to Tableau features and capabilities.

  • Advises end users on visualization best practices and performance optimization strategies and collaborate to design impactful dashboards and reports.

  • Performs administrative and support activities across a multi-environment Tableau infrastructure including security administration, release management, troubleshooting and general systems maintenance.* Perform development activities from gathering requirements and designing solutions, through developing code / reports, to testing and release / deployment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED/ relevant experience

  • 5+ years overall professional experience with at least 3 years working with data (data engineering, Data scientist, BI analyst, BI developer etc.)

  • Proficiency with SQL - 3+ years experience in a professional setting.

  • Experience designing and developing reporting solutions/dashboards in a professional environment. Demonstrated ability to apply best practices in visualization techniques to design meaningful and impactful dashboards/reporting solutions.

  • Experience leveraging Tableau to deliver dashboards and reporting capabilities at enterprise scale.

  • Experience with creation of users, groups, projects, workbooks and the appropriate permission sets for Tableau server logons and security checks.

  • Experience using tools like Alteryx, Tableau Prep and Excel for data preparation / lightweight integration & transformation

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with proven ability to influence with impact across functions and disciplines.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines, identifying the necessary steps and moving forward through completion.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Skilled in Excel (more advanced analytical tools preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Experience configuring Tableau to support scaling Tableau usage to the enterprise - this may include operationalizing a governance framework for Tableau assets, developing reports to provide transparency around asset usage etc.

  • Demonstrated experience working in an Agile environment with Development and QA staff.

  • Experience with Cloud Data Warehouses like Redshift, Aurora etc.

  • Knowledge of provider-sponsored health insurance systems/processes and the Healthcare industry.

Hiring Range*:

  • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $91,900 - $132,770

  • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $80,900 - $120,360

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
