MD Anderson Cancer Center Campus Services Technician - Veterinary Medicine & Surgery in Houston, Texas
The Veterinary Medicine and Surgery department exists to serve MD Anderson research programs. Our primary mission is to provide the best possible veterinary care, facilities and services in support of the institutional animal care and use program, in keeping with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) accreditation standards.

KEY FUNCTIONS
Receipt, and Distribution of Items :
Receives and distributes incoming supplies, feed, bedding and equipment
Physically assists with unloading of items to include operation of material handling equipment
Checks shipments for concealed damage
Check shipments against packing list and purchases order for accuracy of count and description.
Refers problems associated with inaccurate/damage shipments to supervisor and departmental buyer
Completes hard copy records related to the receiving/return
Makes entries on stock supply file to record incoming/outgoing merchandise
Retrieves and distributes supplies on request throughout all animal facilities
Makes daily inspections of supply and feed storage areas checking for cleanliness, liquid spills, and rodent infestation
Maintains an inventory of supplies. Notifies supervisor of depleted stock items
Assists supervisor with physical inventories
Assigns/attaches and/or inscribes AH numbers on new equipment as instructed by Operations Group. Moves AH numbered and/or other surplus equipment within the department and to Property Control Warehouse
Assists supervisor with the annual property inventory
Moves, relocates, or rearranges furniture, equipment, or supplies as assigned by supervisor
Assemble and make minor repairs to equipment, including carts, bulk trucks, animal caging equipment, etc.
Maintains the storage of supplies and equipment in the department warehouse in an orderly manner consistent with safe operation standards and institutional Fire Code regulations
Prepares relocation paperwork for any items moved to the department warehouse or the institutional warehouse
Obtain required signatures and distributes copies to appropriate manager.
Ensures that all emergency preparedness supplies are accessible and in acceptable condition for immediate use
Housekeeping Duties
Performs basic housekeeping duties both in the department and the warehouse facility
Empties freezers to dispose of animal carcasses on a daily basis
Performs Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (VHP) decontamination procedures
In DVMS rooms at satellite drop-off and short-term housing locations, perform checks of animal health and environmental conditions and record in appropriate systems
Transport and Vehicle Maintenance
Maintains delivery/warehousing vehicles and equipment by posting daily maintenance record, servicing vehicles, equipment and forklift with gas and oil and tire pressure check.
Cleans or washes vehicles/equipment.
Transporting of animals, supplies, and materials including, but not limited to, clean and soiled caging between MDA buildings and campuses as well as other institutions as required.
Transport research staff between vivarium.
Enter transport trip information accurately on Vehicle Use Report.

EDUCATION
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two years of experience in receiving, storing, and handling goods and equipment.
LICENSURE
Preferred: Must have a valid Texas Class "C" Driver License.
