Your Impact at SAM
The OSP AutoCAD Drafter will work with the engineering / design team on the production of outside plant drawings for fiber-based telecommunications infrastructure projects and will report to the Project Manager – OSP Engineering and Design.
Responsibilities will include the drafting of communications infrastructure using AutoCAD, with an emphasis on Road Moves and OSP fiber optic cable infrastructure projects such as FTTx, and 5G. Knowledge of the standards and specifications of utility Right-of-Way owners, utility owners and OSP construction practices for fiber optic cable plant is a plus.
Draft OSP construction drawings in AutoCAD for jurisdictional permitting
Research and define local jurisdictional regulations, coordinate permit application process and ensure that design conforms to specifications
Interpret underground, direct buried, and aerial telecom facilities records on maps and fielding notes
Ensure system compliance with FCC and FAA regulations and operating specifications
What You Bring to SAM
2+ years of relevant telecommunication industry experience required
Strong experience with AutoCAD in a Telecom setting is required
Fundamental knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of outside plant designs
Strong organization skills
Familiarity with design standards relative to FTTP, FTTB, and FTTC is a plus
Experience with OSP telecommunication industry engineering processes and practices, and their impact on project activities
