Description We are seeking a Tax Manager - Public to join our team in Houston, Texas. The role is centered around the creation and management of our tax division. This involves selecting the appropriate tax preparation software, coordinating with other departments for data collection, and determining the deliverables we provide. This role is essential in our organization, as you will be responsible for preparing income tax returns and performing tax projections for clients.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and manage the tax division of our organization.

• Select and implement the appropriate tax preparation software.

• Collaborate with the wealth management department for effective data collection from clients.

• Determine the deliverables that will be provided to clients.

• Prepare income tax returns and serve as the primary contact for this process.

• Conduct tax projections for clients in coordination with the wealth management department.

• Act as an in-house consultant for tax projections throughout the year when analyzing stock option strategies, optimizing Roth conversions, and other tax-sensitive situations.

• Contribute to firm Marketing efforts by writing articles relevant to clients and prospective clients.

• Attend weekly Wealth Management meetings and bi-monthly Leadership Team meetings.

• Be prepared for extended working hours during tax season, with flexibility throughout the rest of the year. Requirements • Holds a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Tax Manager role or similar position in public sector

• Proven experience with tax returns preparation

• Demonstrable knowledge of tax laws and regulations

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; Master’s degree and/or CPA certification is preferred

• Strong analytical skills to assess complex tax issues

• Proficient in tax software and MS Office Suite

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Proven track record of meeting strict deadlines

• Experience in risk management and compliance

• Ability to work independently and in a team setting

• Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships.
