MD Anderson Cancer Center Utility Information Supervisor - Electrical-Drawing in Houston, Texas
The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Supervises and coordinates projects for all sites managed by the division in order to define, map, and integrate the components/requirements of the strategic plan. The following duties currently fall onto the supervisory role and would be required to continue:
• Supervising a team of professionals potentially comprised of MEP Designers and Architects
• Coordinating the mapping of institutional utility MEP infrastructure, creation and maintenance of master existing condition records of MEP systems
• Creating and maintaining Medical Gas as-built infrastructure drawings and Nursing staff Zone Valve Box signage
• Supporting Life Safety/Code documentation updates to support Environmental, Health & Safety
• Providing dedicated Patient Care Operations and Maintenance field condition investigation and documentation for immediate and emergency needs
• Supporting Archibus FM Space development support as requested
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Utility information quality control Provides quality control of project information by interrogating data delivery based on requirements defined through the FIM program for compliance by the divisions building information modeling (BIM) practices and project close-out process.
Applies and integrates appropriate technologies Applies advanced design software features to develop and maintain master existing condition drawings and ensures data quality through the evaluation of content and integration with facilities data sources. Developing the MD Anderson Facilities BIM-to-FIM Initiative with Facilities Planning Design and Construction.
Leads utility mapping program Leads the development of utility mapping plans through collaboration with building owners, engineering staff and coordination with FIM objectives and management.
Assists with process improvement Assists manager with process improvement by staying informed of emerging technologies within the design and construction industry as well as periodically investigating the needs of the facilities operations organizations to ensure that operational requirements are adequately defined and delivered.
Leads utility information team Provides direct supervision, assistance, training and evaluation of assigned employees in Facilities Administration.
Field validation of information Participates in field observation, data collection and analysis for improving the quality of master existing condition records.
Promotes teamwork Promotes teamwork between all facilities department personnel

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Ten years of engineering design experience with an emphasis on the design of facility systems to include three years of lead/supervisory responsibility. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree. Eight years experience in relevant commercial engineering design with a focus in healthcare, academic, and/or research facilities. Experience working for a facility owner or in facilities management.
