ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We have an immediate opening for a Safety Professional to oversee the safety and health at our manufacturing facilities in Hudson, WI. You will be responsible for managing our current safety procedures, analyzing processes to find any gaps or areas that need improvement, and developing new safety systems to reduce or eliminate safety hazards. We will expect you to set up a regular inspection schedule of our buildings and equipment and conduct safety training sessions for new and current employees. Your primary goal is to ensure our employees are safe and our facilities comply with all relevant governmental regulations.

  • Develop professional relationships with our Foreman, Project Managers, and production line employees through strong leadership to promote a safety driven culture.

  • Inspect company operations to determine compliance with safety standards.

  • Inspect equipment and buildings to ensure they meet company and industry safety standards by using our formal audit.

  • Review current safety procedures to find areas that need improvement.

  • Develop new or enhanced safety procedures to reduce or eliminate safety risks.

  • Enforce preventative measures.

  • Provide and oversee training.

  • Conduct safety training sessions for new and current staff.

  • Coaching and consultation.

  • Provide forklift, equipment process, tools, rigging, and fit testing.

  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and monthly safety committee meetings.

  • Report findings of near miss, incident, and injury investigations.

  • Reviews

  • Corrective action follow-up

  • Report corrections and progress to Safety Manager as requested.

  • Elevate concerns as needed.

  • Analyze processes, behaviors, and incident trends.

  • Recommend process improvements where indicated.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in a related general industry/manufacturing safety role or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in the electrical industry preferred.

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management or related field.

  • BCSP Certification in CSP, OHST, or CHST preferred.

  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety industry of manufacturing.

  • Demonstrates industry knowledge and independent judgment to make decisions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate with individuals with a variety of backgrounds.

  • Ability to effectively train, positively influence & motivate others.

  • Proven problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs and applications.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This role requires daily attendance at 1st shift stretch and flex (6:00am).

  • This role operates at a manufacturing facility, requiring work boots, high visibility vest, eye protection and gloves.

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, cell phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and laminator.

  • This position requires the ability to walk most of the day, lift files, open file cabinets, and bend and stand as necessary.

  • This position may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
