Aston Carter Senior Buyer Planner in Irvine, California

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Buyer / Planner to play a vital role in managing the planning and purchasing of both direct and indirect items while maintaining optimal inventory levels. This position is critical in meeting and exceeding on-time delivery (OTD) goals for our customers, ensuring their satisfaction, and collaborating with various departments to uphold quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Demand Fulfillment: Ensure timely delivery of products while minimizing lead times to enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Procurement Strategy Development: Create and implement procurement strategies that maintain optimal inventory levels and align with production schedules.

  • Cost Control Management: Conduct accurate demand forecasting to minimize inventory holding costs, eliminate bottlenecks, and drive cost savings.

  • Product Development Support: Assist in new product development initiatives and lifecycle management.

  • Production Efficiency Improvement: Streamline production processes, reduce waste, and optimize production flow to enhance efficiency.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with various teams on manufacturing planning and scheduling to ensure alignment and efficiency.

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Monitor production performance and evaluate schedules to identify areas for improvement.

  • Production Planning: Plan, schedule, and coordinate the production of company products effectively.

  • Raw Material Evaluation: Assess raw materials to ensure availability for production needs.

  • Status Reporting: Provide regular updates on production status and any issues to upper management.

  • Problem Resolution: Address production disruptions and productivity challenges promptly.

  • Accuracy Commitment: Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.

  • Supply Chain Optimization: Propose and lead projects aimed at optimizing the supply chain.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in buying and planning within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Medical Device industry.

  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite preferred).

  • Advanced planning skills with a strong understanding of inventory management, including forecasting and reconciliation.

  • Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) planning, sourcing, and buying.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data extraction and high-level reporting capabilities.

  • Experience in contract negotiations with suppliers.

  • Prior Quality Assurance experience in a regulated environment (ISO13485).

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business preferred, or equivalent work experience.
