Position Overview

As a District Environmental Manager for Kiewit, you will lead and oversee environmental management practices of numerous construction projects at the district level. District Overview

Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater districts specializing in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Although we are headquartered in Westlake, TX (DFW area), with regional offices in Miami FL and Atlanta GA, we also pursue various projects stretching across the country. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design. Location

Westlake, TX (the DFW area).

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance efforts, processes, improvements, and new program implementations for the district.

  • Identify, assess, and reduce environmental risks to the company.

  • Develop and update environmental plans.

  • Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, quality, underwater noise etc.).

  • Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities.

  • Maintain project data tracking requirements.

  • Monitor, forecast, and communicate environmental costs at the district level.

  • Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.

  • Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.

  • Coordinate with relevant crews on work locations, material needs, quantities, and invoices.

  • Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings to avoid and minimize adverse effects to natural environment and local communities.

  • Identify, document, and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents.

  • Participate in project audits (both internal and external).

  • Prepare Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to company management.

  • Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with clients and regulatory personnel.

  • Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in an environmental science, engineering field, or related.

  • 5 – 10 years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects.

  • Ability to travel to project sites and office locations (TX, GA, and FL) (about 50%).

  • Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.

  • Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time.

  • Effective and strong written/verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Share Point, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent organization abilities and time management skills.

  • Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

  • Superior interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Uncompromising attitude towards safety and integrity.
