Job Description :

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job performs secretarial duties for their respective department. Responsible for initial patient contact, patient scheduling, as well as daily charging of the clients of the department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to write and obtain information in both written and oral form is required. Ability to sit in one position and type for long periods of time is required. Ability to effectively use WordPerfect, Power Point and other software computer equipment is required. Answers telephones, takes and relays messages, obtains confidential patient information, and answers routine inquiries according to department policies/procedures. Responsible for patient scheduling and billing on a daily basis. Uses good guest relations and CQI techniques.

  • Manages administrative work in the department to ensure smooth functioning of all activities.

  • Assembles outpatient charts and evaluations by ensuring that appropriate forms are present. Transcribes initial and final database for staff and ensures delivery to appropriate physicians.

  • Answers, screens and relays pertinent telephone messages to appropriate personnel. Ensures proper communication with administrative personnel for follow-up. Performs general office duties such as monitoring and ordering forms, brochures, and standard office supplies, copying and chart organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • High school diploma/GED

  • Must have a minimum of Heartsaver CPR - Course #1 which includes Adult CPR and Foreign, Body Airway instruction (FBOA). Further requirements are department and unit specific.
