Owens Corning Operator II in Joplin, Missouri

SIGNING BONUS $500 ($250 after 2 months, $250 after 4 months)


The Operator II position is a cross-functional role responsible for the control room, maintaining the proper operation of the bonded line, material leaving the spinners, operation of the collection chamber equipment, oven, thickness, width and cross cut saws as well as bates filters and subsidiary equipment within this area. Considered the process expert for this area in the line control area, the area which cures product to deliver to packaging equipment. During down days this role is a major driver of internal collection chamber cleaning to ensure quality mat production. The operator sets-up and operates the wool machine and assures uninterrupted flow of material from the oven to packing.


  • Follows all Owens Corning safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintains control of line controls, collection chamber, oven, saws, dedust, bed & breakfast, RTO, Bates.

  • Reports any problems to appropriate personnel and carries out emergency procedures.

  • Ensures clean and orderly housekeeping in all assigned areas at all times

  • Performs other tasks and duties within scope as necessary.

  • Quality and precautionary measures to ensure quality mat.

  • Read measurements, tape measure.

  • Set saws, oven, crimper, etc.

  • Communicate with other departments including leadership, scheduler, warehouse, Cupola, packaging, Reliability.

  • Work SCADA: troubleshoot issues.

  • Multi-task and work well with others.

  • Documentation: Written & Online

  • Manage weights

  • SCADA for RTO (Computer Monitors), Bates (Safety Oriented)

  • LTT

  • Housekeeping



  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the U.S.


  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience and/or training in an industrial/manufacturing environment highly preferred.

  • Two year Associates degree in technical related field highly preferred

  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment such as forklift, Bobcat, overhead cranes, and hoists preferred


    The employee should hold the following abilities:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions

  • Six Sigma, TPM, and 5S practices

  • Willingness to support training and cross-functional efforts

  • Must have the ability to train and coach others

  • Must have strong process acumen and high mechanical aptitude

  • Must be able to secure and maintain job related qualifications and certifications as required by the nature of this position

  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Strong internal and external customer service skills

  • Work well in team environment

  • Work independently

  • Basic mathematical calculations and measurements

  • Must maintain schedule flexibility to ensure smooth production

  • Pass drug screen prior to employment

  • Non-Rotating, 12-hour shifts

  • Stand for extended prolonged periods during shift

  • Work overtime as needed
