Kallista Packaging Project Engineer

LOCTATION: Juárez, Nuevo León. * Note: this role is hybrid*

BASIC FUNCTION

Under the direction of the NA Packaging Engineering Mgr, this position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and improvement of structural packaging for Kitchen and Bath core products for Kallista Brand, including material handling, graphic communication, environmental response, and replacement part packaging support.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

•Design, document, and evaluate packaging applications for new and existing Kitchen and Bath core products, incorporating technology, efficiency, and creativity.

•Provide engineering support for product packaging from concept through production/distribution, to final installation and/or destination.

•Incorporate quality practices with focus on corporate, divisional, and departmental strategies and goals.

•Facilitate engineering innovation in daily activities and challenges.

•Develop alternative design concept prototypes and CAD drawings using design software. Coordinate the development and verification testing of alternative designs.

•Create/update BOMs, submit engineering change requests and release the revised designs in Windchill and SAP.

•Work with cross functional teams to ensure packaging changes are compliant with regional/global packaging regulations, operations processes, internal packaging standards, sustainability goals, and customer requirements.

•Create/update internal packaging standards as required.

EXTERNAL BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS:

•Frequent engagement and collaboration with suppliers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering

•A minimum of 4 years related work experience with solid knowledge of engineering principles applied to the design of product packaging.

•Demonstrated ability to drive solid engineering-based solutions to complex problems.

•Proficient knowledge of manufacturing processes of all packaging material types such as corrugated, honeycomb, molded pulp, foams, films, wood, sustainable materials (reusable, recyclable, compostable).

•Basic knowledge of product materials and manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, brass/zinc casting processes, steel stamping and fabrication processes, compression molding, etc preferred but not required.

•Demonstrated expertise to apply DFM principles (manufacturability, assembly, safety, cost) to packaging design.

•Must have good communication skills to work globally with cross function teams.

•Fluent in English language.

•Proficient in ArtiosCAD, Adobe Illustrator, CAPE, PTC Creo Software & MS Office tools.
