JOB SUMMARY: Responsible as assistant observer who reports directly to the lead Resident Project Representative. General duties include supporting services for site visits, field observations, progress meetings, reporting, completion inspections, document review, document management, and project close out.

CHARACTERISTICS: Acquires basic construction knowledge and develops fundamental field inspection skills Knowledge of different types of construction practices and inspection requirements Knowledge of the use of construction tools and equipment Comprehension of basic construction plans and specifications Field inspection, reporting, document review and management, and communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide support to lead Resident Project Representative Acquire a basic understanding of the construction documents and project requirements Attend periodic progress meetings as required Discuss work with the contractor, including equipment, materials, proposed means and methods Conduct on-site observations of work in progress, and document construction site activities on a daily basis Document Labor force, equipment, quantities constructed, weather conditions, when work is not performed or delayed due to weather, observed delays, causes, and data relevant to claims for extras or deductions on a daily basis. Provide photographic records of construction progress, means and methods, safety issues, etc. Document construction issues, safety concerns, and resolutions Provide daily, weekly and monthly report documents and logs as required Witness and document testing and verify that testing is conducted as required by the contract documents Report to lead Resident Project Representative when work is unsatisfactory, defective, or does not conform to the contract documents Accompany authorized visitors on the job site, and document their activities Care, clean, and maintain inspection vehicles, facilities, tools and equipment Maintain orderly construction documents and field notes Coordinate with lead Resident Project Representative in advance of important events or meetings Notify lead Resident Project Representative immediately upon the occurrence of any accident Assist in the preparation of a punch list of items to be completed or corrected by the contractor Assist in verifying that all items have been completed or corrected by the contractor The information contained in this document is not intended to be a complete inventory of the job's duties, responsibilities, and qualifications. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred vocational/technical training beyond high school Technical certifications as required OSHA 10-hour certification for construction Knowledge of basic first aid skills and safety requirements Microsoft Office Suite Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Entry Level with limited or no construction inspection experience
