How you make a difference

The Unit Coordinator is tasked with conducting venipuncture/capillary puncture for blood specimen collection on all facility patients under the guidance of the supervisor, ensuring skill and accuracy in alignment with industry standards. Additionally, the coordinator performs bedside test analysis and gathers non-blood specimens as directed, contributing to comprehensive patient care within the healthcare facility. The role involves a commitment to precise specimen collection techniques and test analysis procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting care delivery in an assigned unit, ensuring the provision of developmentally appropriate treatment for the CRCC patient population.

  • Conducts venipuncture/capillary puncture for blood specimen collection and performs waived, moderate complexity testing, documenting instrument and reagent QC, and ensuring timely completion of labs.

  • Demonstrates competence in providing care, attends annual continuing education programs, and stays updated on technical knowledge, policy changes, and procedural updates.

  • Manages communication with patients, physicians, and co-workers, distributing specimen collection supplies, and addressing service concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

  • Adheres to safety policies, maintains lab records, files results in patient charts, documents procedures and incidents, works scheduled hours, including holidays, and ensures the confidentiality of patient information while performing any other assigned duties.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Requires documented successful completion of a Phlebotomy course.

Experience

  • Prior experience is preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Requires unrestricted current certification or registration in state of practice where such is required

  • Current CPR Certification.
