Cesar Chavez Foundation Director of Educational and Cultural Programming in Keene, California
JOB SUMMARY
The National Chavez Center is seeking a collaborative, creative, outcomes-driven, strategic leader who will play a lead role in designing, piloting and evaluating educational and cultural programs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience designing and piloting products and/or programs with strong results
Bachelors or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training in education
Bilingual Spanish-English preferred, but not required
Management experience preferred, but not required
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing New Programs:
Supports with research and landscape analyses in prioritized education and cultural areas to identify promising opportunities that expand legacy of Cesar Chavez, farm worker movement and related social justice topics
Gathers data and input from partner organizations and user to determine needs, areas for collaboration, and NCC’s role
Develops evidence-based research proposals for new programs
Designs product/program plans, moving from initial ideas through fully designed and ready-to-use
Overseeing Pilot Programs:
Manages pilots of new products and services
Builds relationships with partners and program participants, communicating adeptly with a variety of stakeholders from senior leaders at districts and organizations to families and children
Oversees pilot program implementation, including working with partner organizations and observing and managing part-time/external program staff towards desired results
Conducts evaluation/feedback-cycles and makes recommendations on product/program design and cost efficiencies in order to scale
Existing Programs Support and Development:
Within the first year, 50-75% of the time will be overseeing and expanding existing programs. This includes:
Gaining understanding of existing programs, including but not limited to; Cesar Chavez Day of Service, Speakers Bureau, Day in the Life of Cesar and Alternative Spring Breaks.
Oversees and implements daily operations for select educational programs/products
Uses data to progress monitor and adjust course, as necessary, to ensure programmatic goals are met
Supports program evaluations and implements feedback and recommendations
Supports with hiring, training and managing program staff
Manages communications (support staff, parents, students, school staff)
Maintains records and files for all educational programs
Manages program budget
Collaborates and supports NCC and CCF team members, as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
Thorough knowledge of education and cultural programming landscape
Ability to translate new ideas into easily digestible plans, presentations and programs
Knowledge of funding opportunities and resources
Ability to be nimble, try out new ideas and improve programs as they develop
Team player; Pitches in wherever needed to help the team's work lead to success. Ability to collaborate with others on fast-moving projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leading to the ability to form relationships with multiple stakeholders (school leaders, district staff, teachers, parents, community organizations)
A strong interest in constant developing and learning
Personifies the social justice ideals and values espoused by Cesar Chavez and embodies the Si Se Puede! attitude fueling the Farmworker Movement
LOCATION
Keene, California with 25 – 30% travel
SALARY
$65K-$95K per year DOE
