This can be a wonderful part-time opportunity for an individual with a passion for animals. This can also be a fantastic first step for an individual looking to build a career working professionally with animals. 

The position:

• Professional part-time dog trainer

• *if you suffer from allergies to certain dog and cat breeds, you would not be assigned to care for those animals

• Additional earning opportunities may be available if you have other talents (professional dog walking, cat sitting services, blog entries, social media, sales experience concerning the pet care industry, etc.) 

  Schedule:

• Sunday to Thursday, generally 10am to 3pm.

• Candidates with availability before 10am or after 3pm or on Friday or Saturday will have additional consideration. 

  Service Area:

  Our service area includes Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, The Falls, Miami, Kendall, The Crossings, Country Walk, and Cutler Bay. With our training services, we work throughout Miami-Dade County. 

  Compensation:

• $25 / hour

• $1000 - $3000 / month (*depending on what tasks can be assigned beyond training sessions)

• Performance reviews at three months and one year annually

  The responsibilities:

• Training all breeds of dogs that come to us for various reasons, from puppy training to behavioral issues. We also work with dogs with resource guarding, separation anxiety, fear-based behaviors, dog reactivity/aggression, and human reactivity/aggression.

• You will also educate clients on Dances with Dogs’ training policies and procedures and head up group classes. We only use force-free methods of training. You are expected to build strong, trusting relationships with new and existing clients.

• When we review a client's goals, there is an element of sales in that process. How can Dances with Dogs training packages help clients reach their goals? This is not a cold lead position. You may often be checking with current clients and former clients to see how Dances with Dogs services have helped them accomplish their goals. You may suggest we bring a client from a level 1 package to a level 2 package.  

• Speaking to clients about Dances with Dogs’ policies, procedures, and training packages/options. We strongly believe in and only practice Positive Reinforcement. 

• Multi-task between training dogs and making client phone calls; we require communication via a smartphone with a data plan (assist in other areas of the business as needed).

• Practice time management to ensure on-time arrivals for all assigned visits

  The ideal candidate:

• An honest, patient, and enthusiastic candidate who can provide our client's dogs and cats with the highest quality visits possible.

• The candidate should have a strong understanding of safety and time management.

• Previous professional or volunteer experience with animals is preferred, but a positive attitude with a desire to learn is just as important.

• The candidate should enjoy an active work environment, walking independently and working outdoors regardless of weather conditions.

• Consideration for candidates with evening, weekend, and holiday availability.

• Special consideration is given to candidates with social media and sales experience. Spanish-speaking bi-lingual candidates will also have special consideration.
