Overview

Lead Teacher, Nanny's Edu-Care Center (located in West Knoxville)

Full-Time, 80 hours a pay period, Day Shift

Position Summary:Provide developmentally appropriate educational opportunities for the children in the classroom. Education activities should be developed to prepare children for next classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement & evaluate the curriculum of Nanny’s Edu-Care Center for the age group assigned.

  • Implement the personal safety program required by the state of Tennessee for the children that are three years old and older.

  • Work as a team player with specialist, teacher and other suite members.

  • Exhibit professional behavior; i.e., communication supportive of Nanny’s programming, staff, and administration; coaching staff toward achieving performance expectations, following established conflict resolution process, pursuit of professional development.

  • Responsible for health, safety and operation of the classroom.

  • Maintain adherence to Knox County Health & Fire Department regulations, DHS licensing standards, 3 Star licensing requirements, and Covenant Health criteria.

  • Assist administration by using available staff to maintain appropriate ratio.

  • Maintain adherence to Infection Control Policies of the Center.

  • Meet children’s physical needs consistently through established routines.

  • Responsible for smooth coordination of daily routines and activities.

  • Maintain necessary records (Individual Child Information Charts, Daily Developmental Notes, Allergy List, Roll Sheet, Infection and Illness Notification, Bumps and Bruises Report, Task List, Medication Chart, Notes From Home).

  • Complete developmental assessments, new parent orientations and assure smooth transition of children as they promote in and out of room.

  • Establish daily communication with parents- verbal and written.

  • Maintain Parent Daily Board, Nanny’s Notes Board and Daily Activity/Communication Tables.

  • Post monthly calendar with themes, special days, assessment schedule, make-up days, etc.

  • Primary responsibility for conducting parent conferences.

  • Oversee planning and implementation of activities for children based on developmental assessment and developmentally appropriate practice.

  • Monitor children’s developmental progress and discuss concerns with Administration.

  • Assure completion of Developmental Assessments/Quarterly updates in a timely manner. Portfolio pages as necessary.

  • Monitor and request needed supplies.

  • Work with Administration to equip and arrange classroom.

  • Assure regular disinfecting and rotation of classroom toys and materials.

  • Oversee maintenance of the room and notify front desk to complete work orders (with administrative approval) and housekeeping requests.

  • Complete required referral forms.

  • Work with Administration to integrate children with special needs.

  • Participate in process improvement activities.

  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings on MLK Day, Good Friday, meetings the weeks of Memorial Day, 4thof July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

  • Other related duties as assigned by director.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience: Proven experience in development of specific area. One to three (1-3) years’ child care experience. Maintain 18 hours of training annually. Twenty-four (24) hours needed for new employees in their first year.

Licensure Requirement: Infant-child CPR and First Aid certification renewed annually.
