Job Overview:

The Senior Material & Corrosion Engineer is responsible for the material selection and corrosion control related scope (as clarified in the below section) during EPCI, FEED and Pre-FEED stages of the Offshore projects (Topsides and Subsea).

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform materials selection for Offshore projects (Topsides and Subsea both)

  • Perform corrosion and erosion rate calculations using ECE software and DNV RP O501 program respectively

  • Assess sour service requirements and its impact on the materials selection and qualification

  • Develop all Materials Selection/Corrosion Control related deliverables which mainly include Materials Selection Report/Philosophy, Materials Selection Diagrams and Corrosion Management Plan

  • Develop all specifications related to Materials & Corrosion scope, such as specifications for Protective Coating, Thermal Insulation, Thermal Metal Spray Coating and Corrosion Monitoring

  • Review other disciplines’ deliverables (P&IDs, Datasheet, Material Requisitions etc.)

  • Provide technical support to other engineering disciplines, QA/QC team, Client, Vendors and fabrication yards to resolve materials, corrosion control and coating related queries.

  • Inputs for purchase requisitions and reviews of vendor/subcontractor submittals

  • Active participation in technical bid evaluation and design reviews for Vendor packages

  • Attend Bid Clarification meetings and Kick-off meetings

  • Vendor Document reviews. Responsible for final review/approval of Materials and Corrosion/coating related aspects of the Vendor documents

  • Review Client comments and/or queries, provide responses/clarifications and close actions

  • Participation in HAZOPs, HAZIDs and Project risk assessments

  • Provide progress reports as necessary for engaged projects

  • Attend weekly project meetings (internal as well as with Client). Prepare MoMs for the Client Meetings

  • Participate in new project bid reviews and technical bid submissions for Materials & Corrosion Related scope

  • Prepare RFQ and TBE for third party scope (for example, RBI study) and co-ordinate with the vendor and Client for the execution of the third party scope

  • Liaise with Company’s SMEs for materials selection, corrosion control, coating and insulation related work

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Metallurgy or Materials Engineering

  • 10+ years within Oil and Gas industry (mainly Offshore) through all phases of EPCI project delivery

  • Good knowledge and significant experience on materials selection, corrosion control, sour service requirements and coating system selection for offshore projects is mandatory. The project experience SHALL include preparation of materials selection reports/diagrams, corrosion management plan and coating specification during Detailed Design/EPCI and/or FEED stages as a minimum

  • Familiar with the applicable international codes and standards (ISO, NORSOK, NACE, API, DNVGL, ASTM, ASME etc.) and COMPANY specifications for Offshore projects

  • Knowledge and Certification related to Coating application/qualification, Risk Based Inspection, Welding and Insulation will be an added advantage

  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken

  • Ability to manage the Materials and Corrosion scope of the project independently with minimum supervision
