Responsibilities
The Family Birth Center in La Crosse Wisconsin provides an exciting opportunity for a Surgical Tech (ST) interested in obstetric and maternal/newborn care. The responsibilities include but are not limited to, assisting in OR procedures (c-sections), vaginal deliveries, and care of mothers, babies, and families. In addition to the direct patient care aspects, the Family Birth Center provides a strong teamwork atmosphere as this ST role is an integral part of the care team who work closely with surgeons, anesthesia staff, and registered nurses in delivering patient care before, during, and after surgery. Their primary responsibility is maintaining the sterile field and being constantly vigilant that all members of the team adhere to aseptic technique.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certification as Operating Room Technician preferred. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Displays professional/responsible/accountable attitude and behavior.

License or Certification:
Must obtain prior to start date:
Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers- BCLS – certificate of course completion required and must not expire within 3 months after start date. A scanned copy of the certificate of completion or transcripts, including your full name, must be attached to your profile to be considered.
We will only accept certificates of course completion from the following providers:
American Heart Association (Title: BLS for Healthcare Providers or BLS Provider)
Red Cross (Title: CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers or BLS for Healthcare Providers)
Military Training Network
Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
