About the Team: At the ZF Lafayette facility, the Manufacturing Engineering team assists in the production of automotive components for the commercial vehicle market including products such as steering columns and pitman arms. An engineer in this role will be responsible for ensuring production in their responsible area is maintained. Examples of how this can be accomplished is through the implementation of new processes, improvements to existing processes, or assisting the maintenance team. Most importantly safety and quality are always to be kept at the highest standards. Communication throughout all levels of the plant, critical thinking, problem solving, and the right technical skills will be vital to success in this role.
What you can look forward to as a Manufacturing Engineer:
Work at ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Steering Systems Plant in Lafayette, Indiana
Facilitate the development, modification, loading, archiving, debugging, and maintenance of software updates on all “program driven” equipment
Responsible for automation design, programming, build, install, start-up and validation of process/packaging/industrial control systems
Contribute to the cost estimating, design, procurement, installation, and debugging of tooling, equipment and systems used in manufacturing processes
Improve overall processes and related issues including the following: process development, creating process documentation, production processing, problem solving and project management
Your Profile as a Manufacturing Engineer:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
3+ years of Engineering experience in a Manufacturing environment
CNC experience strongly preferred
MIG and/or TIG welding experience strongly preferred
Ability to communicate effectively within various levels of the organization required
Experience with PLC - 5, Control Logics/RS Logics 500 & 5000 and HMI - RS View ME/SE/Panel View a plus
Vision and Robotic experience a plus
