Lake City Care Center is owned by the Mayo Clinic Health System with the daily operations managed by Ebenezer. At any given time, as many as 90 people call the care center their home. Since we opened in 1978, we’ve served thousands of seniors. The care center is connected to a Mayo clinic and hospital, so residents don't have to leave the building for a clinic appointment or emergency care if needed.
The cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals as assigned using standardized recipes to meet established standards of high quality care. Plates food for optimal eye appeal to entice food consumption by our residents in our skilled nursing community.
This position includes;
64 hours per pay period
Evening shifts, 11-7:30pm or 11:30-8pm.

Responsibilities/Job Description
Properly cook foods to specified temperatures & quality standards
Follow standardized recipes and products to insure products are consistent in quality and nutritional value.
Weigh and measure ingredients per standardized recipes
Assemble food within specified time frames.
Ensures production and meal service are provided in a timely manner.
Accurately complete tasks listed on daily preparation sheets.
Plates meals for residents/staff/visitors & volunteers in an attractive manor.
Follows the Food Storage Chart for proper food placement under refrigeration and dry storage.
Take and document temperatures of food items and makes appropriate adjustments to achieve standards.
Handle and prepare food in a safe manner following policies and procedures of infection control and safety
Sanitize equipment and work area after each use.
May supervise daily operations in absence of management, as well with assist with training new staff and procedure development
Responsible for resident/guest customer service and responds appropriately and professionally
Assists with events
Qualifications
Required:
Ability to use technology (computers, micro soft office programs, hand held devices, cell phones)
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Ability to interact effectively with team members and empathetically with residents
Must have good organizational skills along with solid decision making and judgment abilities
Preferred:
Vocational/technical related degree
ServSafe certification preferred, but we can assist in obtaining
One to three years related experience preferred, but not required
High volume cooking experience in a similar environment preferred
