Continental Maintenance Mechanic in Lakeville, Indiana

The company has its own 300-mph test wheel; a technology center; state-of-the-art, fully integrated production facilities recently adding a high-tech mixing plant, with enough capacity to produce not only for Hoosier Racing Tire, but to have the ability to produce rubber for additional entities as well as a model sales and distribution network. Our Hoosier location in Lakeville, IN is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team.

THE POSITION

As part of a dynamic and growing organization, we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our Maintenance team responsible for ensuring the proper care and upkeep of our manufacturing facility, corporate offices, and fleet of vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  1. Vehicle Maintenance:

  2. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles, including semis, vans, forklifts, mules, and golf carts.

  3. Conduct preventative maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in safe and operable condition.

  4. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to keep vehicles running smoothly.

  5. Utilize diagnostic testing equipment to identify vehicle issues accurately and efficiently.

  6. Operate semi-trucks on company property as needed.

  7. Facility Maintenance:

  8. Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of our corporate campus, including buildings, grounds, and assets.

  9. Perform repairs and minor construction tasks as needed to maintain a safe and functional work environment.

  10. Asset Management:

  11. Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for vehicle and facility maintenance.

  12. Coordinate with the maintenance manager to ensure adequate stock levels and timely procurement of supplies.

  13. Safety Compliance:

  14. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies in performing maintenance tasks.

  15. Conduct safety inspections on vehicles and equipment to identify and address any safety hazards.

  16. Conduct annual DOT inspections on vehicles to ensure compliance with regulations.

  17. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and track vehicle performance metrics.

  18. Team Collaboration:

  19. Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team to prioritize tasks and support overall departmental goals.

  20. Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to coordinate maintenance activities and share relevant information.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to follow instructions written in standard English.

  • Ability to stand for long periods.

  • Ability to bend, climb, squat, crawl, reach and twist frequently.

  • Ability to lift 20-75 lbs. frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.

  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

  • Professional appearance and clean work habits are essential.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.

  • Proven experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a transportation environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of vehicles and equipment.

  • Knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to safety and quality.
