A Power Plant Assistant Operator with 3-5 years' experience preferred with high-pressured fossil fuel/bio-mass fired boilers and electric generation in a steam power plant, or equivalent military or industrial plant experience is preferred, but not required.

Job duties include but are not limited to the safe operation and inspection of various boiler plant auxiliary equipment including pumps, air compressors, electrical devices and hydraulic power units throughout the plant. Assistant must be able to quickly recognize abnormal or unsafe operating conditions of the equipment, check automatic starting of standby equipment and make necessary adjustments as directed by the control room operators. Additional duties include power boiler bottom ash operations and water treatment systems. Routinely handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds and on occasion may be expected to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Applicant must possess a valid driver license. Present a positive attitude with the ability to function as a team player.

Shifts are rotating 12-hour days and nights with overtime as required.

The employee will work under the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union Local 5024-01.
