Job Description:
Social Media Management (50%)
Manage social media channels for individual units or centers, adhering to a regular schedule and engaging with different audiences. This will include ad campaign management across relevant social medial platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and potentially others.)
Content Creation and Management (15%)
Be positioned to craft content as part of a content strategy, including social media campaigns.
Media Creation (15%)
Create media, which may include graphics, composite images, social image cards, and light video work.
Website Management (10%)
Make changes to unit websites as requested.
Other duties as assigned (10%)
Job duty percentages are estimates and may change based on the skillset and experience of the selected candidate. We are especially interested in someone familiar with educational access programs and promoting services designed to increase the educational success of a variety of students populations.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Marketing, English, Communications, Art, or relevant field.
1 year of experience in a related position, such as advertising, social media, communications, news or similar.
Baseline graphic and design skills as demonstrated in application materials.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on internal customer service, as demonstrated in application materials.
2 years experience with a range of computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Illustrator especially).

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with videography and digital multimedia.
Experience with managing paid social media campaigns.
Familiarity with the higher education environment.
Familiarity or knowledge of educational opportunity programs such as TRIO, SES, STEM, or similar initiatives that facilitate, support, and encourage academic success.
Position Overview:
The Achievement & Assessment Institute (https://aai.ku.edu/) (AAI) has an immediate need for a Communications Specialist to join its central office team. As one of a designated research institutes at the University of Kansas, AAI houses and facilitates research through several individual centers, each with their own focus, including testing and evaluation, educational research, educational opportunity programs, technological solutions, and more.
The Communications Specialist will support AAI communication efforts, as well as meet communication needs for individual centers or support and collaborate with centers that have existing communication teams. The Communications Specialist will work closely with the AAI Communications Manager. Tasks will vary in size and scope and can include:
Social Media Management
Media Creation (Digital, Print, and Video).
Web Content Creation
Website Management
Coordinating with AAI Centers and Departments Across the University of Kansas
