Study Group Student Support Coordinator (Welfare & Learning Support) in Leeds, United Kingdom

Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre

Contract Type: Full Time – Permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £28,600 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

You will be part of the Student Support Team (which forms part of the wider Student Experience Team) and will be responsible for coordinating the welfare and learning support within the centre.

The post holder will be operationally managed by the Head of Student Support and will be responsible for the operational management of the Welfare and Learning Support Officers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To include but not limited to:

  • Lead the bi-weekly welfare case conferences and responsible for related administration.

  • Assess and make reasonable adjustment recommendations for students with Learning Difference, Health Conditions and Disabilities (LDHD).

  • Manage and oversee student welfare and wellbeing cases within the centre, including collaborating with the wider Student Support department.

  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring the safeguarding of students in line with centre policy.

  • Responsible for coordinating the Under 18’s operational procedures, including connecting with the ISC Guardianship service, monitoring engagement and attendance and organising suitable specific induction activities.

  • To work with academic teams to advocate and embed inclusive practice within the classroom.

  • Contribute to relevant delivery on student welfare and safeguarding topics, including the creation of resources and educational materials.

  • To line manage the Student Support Officers (Welfare and Learning Support), working with them in necessary performance management and professional development.

  • To act as a safeguarding supervisor and undertake regular supervision with the team.

  • Contribute to developing, communicating and enacting the strategy and priorities for the Centre.

  • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Level 6 Qualification (or equivalent experience)

  • Higher level safeguarding training or experience in safeguarding (Desirable)

  • Experience of leading a team or the supervision of a suitably complex task or project, which achieved a successful outcome

  • Experience of making judgements on support requirements with the ability to choose an approach that coordinates the workload within the team

  • Experience of supporting students in an educational context
