Navistar, Inc. Procurement Manager-Transport in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

The Procurement Manager - Transport will lead the inbound & outbound transportation categories working cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with logistics, finance, direct procurement and supply chain. As Procurement Manager - Transport you will be responsible for developing and implementing inbound & outbound transportation sourcing strategies, driving cost reductions, supply base management and negotiating and executing agreements.

The Procurement Manager’s key activities include, developing sourcing strategies (including collaborations with other VW brands), major supplier contract negotiations, identifying cost reduction opportunities and overall supplier performance management for cost, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of category managers, providing coaching, direction and support on key projects and deliverables.

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for inbound & outbound transportation, with focus on TL, LTL, and Global Ocean/Air to align with Navistar’s business objectives.

  • Lead strategic sourcing decisions for new scope as well as current business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities.

  • Execute VW NAR Logistics Business Plan, driving collaboration opportunities with sister brands.

  • Research industry trends, global markets, benchmark data, and understand underlying cost drivers.

  • Analyze category spend to identify and develop savings opportunities, and work with the logistics team to develop cost budgets.

  • Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that cost competitiveness, on time delivery, and service meet or exceed expectations.

  • Drive compliance to Navistar Sourcing Policy and VW approval process

  • Focus on continuous improvement of current processes and systems

  • Responsibility for YOY savings and other key metrics within inbound & outbound transportation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 8 years of purchasing/procurement experience

  • At least 2 years of management experience

OR

  • Master's degree

  • At least 6 years of purchasing/procurement experience

  • At least 2 years of management experience

OR

  • At least 10 years of purchasing/procurement experience

  • At least 2 years of management experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

  • Procurement background with experience in transportation and logistics industries preferred

  • Strategic mindset with ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with different functional backgrounds as well as with different business cultures globally

  • Experience with sourcing services, discovering competitive options and leading negotiations

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute commercial agreements and contracts

  • Ability to understand technical concepts

  • Skilled at developing executive level presentations

  • Strong analytical skills
