Position Summary
The Workforce Specialist’s (WFS) primary role is to assist the Supervisors in reviewing the following reports and taking action: Weekly claim certification issue repository and Employer Response Queue. The WFS may also assist in processing Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims by following written policy and procedures. Additional duties include keying forms, creating wage requests, answering UI Service Center related emails, and other special projects assigned by management.
Education and Professional Work Experience
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma or its equivalent; plus, two years of experience in customer service, program eligibility, claims adjudication, or a related field.
Preferred Qualification
One(1)year experience working with the Unemployment Insurance program and intensive knowledge of system and program processes and terminology, and experience with conducting business via telephone and / or email.

Knowledge of computers, office equipment, and imaging programs .

Job Responsibilities and Expected Results
Work assigned reports: CNOW and Employer Response Queue.
Assist with processing UI claims if needed.
Detect, investigate, and set claims issues .
Research claims to detect issues and problems and gather needed information to allow claim to be processed.
Performs other duties as assigned .

Date: 07/01/2009 STATE OF ARKANSAS JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) Workforce Specialist is responsible for career orientation and planning, assessment, and enrollment of clients seeking eligibility for DWS programs and related services. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Interviews clients to determine eligibility for DWS programs and services by reviewing clients' forms, asking questions concerning clients' work history, and providing information on programs and services. Enrolls clients in DWS programs after reviewing clients' profile information and comparing profile to criteria for program eligibility to determine eligibility. Contacts employers/clients by telephone or correspondence to discuss job orders, potential job applicants, and issues concerning clients' eligibility for benefits or program services. Performs job placement activities by researching files and selecting position openings compatible with clients' employment profile, schedules interviews for clients, and informs clients of date, time, and location of interview. Administers aptitude and job skills assessments to job applicants by monitoring assessments, scoring and recording results and scheduling assessments. Accesses computer terminal to enter, check, and retrieve information concerning clients' information. Counsels clients by explaining program eligibility, program benefits, and employment opportunities. Completes forms, reports, and records associated with DWS programs. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
