Job Overview:

The Burn Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (https://www.rwjbh.org/cooperman-barnabas-medical-center/treatment-care/the-burn-center/) (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) is the only state-certified burn treatment facility in New Jersey, and one of the largest in North America. With 12 intensive care beds and an 18-bed step-down unit for less critically injured patients. The Burn Center provides expert care for patients of all ages. We are seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to care for our patients in their time of need.

Qualifications:

  • A graduate from an accredited school of Nursing

  • Baccalaureate or Associate Degree in Nursing

Required:

  • Strong critical thinking/assessment skills

  • Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or completion of requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to unit.

  • Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.

  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 7A-8P, 37.5 hours per week, 12.5-hour shift

  • Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotation

Essential Functions:

  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

  • The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of their own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others in the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resources and programs available.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.

  • The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.

  • The Registered Nurse participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.

  • The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
