Cunico, a BWXT Company, is seeking a Procurement Manager to provide strategic procurement services to our organization located in Long Beach, CA!

Cunico, a BWXT company, was founded in 1951 in Long Beach, California and specializes in naval products for submarines, aircraft carriers, naval surface ships and LNG manifold/valve systems. This team manufactures Level 1 cold-formed and specialty fittings, piping systems and valves to Military Spec for the U.S. Navy, Electric Boat, Newport News, BAE Systems, Navantia, Ingalls and other companies in Europe. As the Procurement Manager, you must be able to identify early warning signs, gather information and develop executive action plans to address supplier issues. By building trust with your suppliers, you will conduct the necessary discussions to convey a balanced perspective with your internal customers to resolve or mitigate execution concerns. This role will ensure coordination with technical POCs as required by communicating, influencing, and motivating others, using creative thinking, and encouraging teamwork. Using procurement best practices, this role will be called upon to develop unique responses to complex business challenges, while providing guidance to the organization on procurement matters. As part of a diverse team that includes operations, quality, proposal management, and company leadership, the Procurement Manager will coordinate and support Cunico in all aspects of the supply chain.

The following job duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all procurement planning and proposal activities.

  • Work in concert with Supplier Quality, Finance, Proposal Development, and leadership to ensure achievement of business objectives.

  • Responsible for both strategic and operational execution of Procurement, managing priorities to support cost, quality, and material flow objectives.

  • Responsible for supporting proposals including acquisition strategy and early subcontractor selection, in concert with Product Lines, Mission Assurance, Engineering and Business Development.

  • Act as liaison internally with Operations, Proposal Management and Quality Control regarding all procurement matters as well as being the primary escalation point for subcontractors.

  • Ensure full compliance with purchasing requirements/regulations and BWXT policy.

    Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Must have at least six (6) years of Supply Chain / Procurement experience.

  • Must possess strong negotiation, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • A keen sense of customer focus is required.

  • Strong executive communications skills combined with excellent computer skills is required.

  • Must have an understanding of ERP or MRP Systems including inventory management, resource and flow planning and tracking.

  • Experience with FAR, DFARs and other DoD regulations is required.

  • An understanding of accounting and finance basics is required.

  • Project Management and/or Program Management skills are desired.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.

    The base salary range for this position in [[stateProvince]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
