In this role in our beautiful Longmont, CO offices, we are looking for a motivated Engineer to join our growing Enterprise SSD Validation Engineering team as a JQ Engineer. We work as an integral part of our enterprise SSD development and validation process, ensuring our products are timely to market and of outstanding quality in the field!

What’s Encouraged Daily

Technical Ownership

  • Serve as the domain authority for validation of customer test requirements, associated industry certifications, and results.

  • Build and implement test plans, coverage, and testing activities to drive both increased effectiveness and efficiencies across the product portfolio.

  • Recommend and instrument new validation approaches that drive better coverage, more accurate testing, and expanded testing services.

  • Apply technical, project, and delegation experience to actively lead product test cycles across a JQ for various OEMs

Requirements Analysis

  • Plan and execute to test schedules or strategies per project scope and delivery dates

  • Firmware maturity levels that unblock incremental test capability as products are delivered against a delivery plan.

  • Study of product requirements to verify testability and identify suitable testing equipment.

  • Feedback and influence product design for the definition and implementation of new requirements/ performances.

Validation Strategy

  • Ownership of a JQ test area, execution, planning, enablement, triage and customer advocacy

  • Identification of PASS/FAIL criteria in terms of the number of cycles, statistics, and temperature.

  • Enable shift-left efforts to move the detection of failures from customer tests to internally developed and maintained test frameworks.

Test Implementation

  • Define the Test Implementation Strategy and Software Architecture to encompass both development and debugging.

  • Define and complete a test automation strategy, to facilitate product firmware releases and supervise progression in maturity, pass rate, and percent execution vs. plan.

  • Constantly evaluate, refine, and implement validation processes/methodologies.

Test Execution

  • Execution of Product Validation flow to match programmed validation plan.

  • Monitoring of test time – Test time reduction.

  • Results analysis – Bin Pareto.

  • Report Generation - Report data in a clear format including concise comments about findings.

  • Track document revision to provide historical reference.

Defect Management

  • Work in partnership with the Product development teams to provide root cause and drive failure analysis coming from upstream/downstream validation teams, customers, and other partners to closure, while also articulating the associated risk.

  • Implement detailed steps to reproduce failures while providing traceability to the bugs/gaps/escapes.

  • Collaborate with partner teams to assess test results and generate deviation.

How to Qualify

  • BS in an engineering field or equivalent

  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience with a proven ability to encourage and lead change.

  • Ability to analyze problems, diagnose to root cause, and apply corrective actions.

  • Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, and teamwork skills across sites and time zones.

  • 3+ years of validation experience, with demonstrated ability to craft and implement elite product test strategies.

  • Deep knowledge of enterprise PCIe SSDs, NAND, memory storage hierarchy, and enterprise storage.

  • Knowledge of NVMe storage protocols.

  • Ability to read and understand FW code and analyze sophisticated firmware, software (Windows & Linux), and hardware issues in systems with experience in ASIC/ FPGA design and FPGA design tools.

  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, and evolving environment with shifting demands.

  • Experience with Agile product development processes and project management

  • Experience with quality and process improvement methodologies and tools (Lean, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, FMEAs, DMAIC)

What Sets You Apart

  • Embedded C and an understanding of an Object-Oriented Programming language; Python preferred.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$111,000.00 - $190,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
