We are looking for someone who is innovative and collaborative, values engagement, maintains open and efficient communication, and makes decisions informed by student-success data. The Instructor must maintain an inclusive-classroom culture with respect to the diverse and lived experiences, values, beliefs, and practices of others.   • Lecture rate is $74.01 per contact hour ($814.11 per credit).
  • Lab rate is $55.11 per contact hour ($1,212.42 per credit).
  • Field-based experience rate is $40.03 per contact hour ($1,320.99 per credit).

*Among other duties, this Instructor will have the opportunity to: * 

  • Provide quality instruction that emphasizes an active, student-centered working environment 
  • Effectively prepare and present course content to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities 
  • Collaborate with the department and other members of the campus community to foster student success
  • Incorporate instructional technology in course delivery 
  • Contribute to program and college assessment and accreditation activities
  • Collaborate with tutoring services

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • MA in English, Composition & Rhetoric, English Education, or a related degree from an accredited institution
  • Expressed interest in teaching in a community college 
  • Commitment to serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, gender expression and identity, education, and cultural backgrounds 
  • Experience teaching first year college composition courses
  • Demonstrated experience teaching with a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion 
  • Demonstrated ability utilizing technological integration in course design and delivery to maximize student success outcomes
  • Ability to teach a variety of modalities including; face-to-face, hybrid, and online.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience teaching first year college composition courses 
  • Experience with departmental and college-wide writing assessment practices
