Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to provide behavioral health services to individuals served by the Office of Resilience and Community Services (ORCS). The Licensed Behavioral Health Professional conducts biopsychosocial assessments; develops service plans; intervenes in mental health crises; and provides brief, solution-focused therapy. Duties of this position also include intensive case management and coordination with community partners, including non-profit organizations, healthcare facilities, courts, and law enforcement. The Licensed Behavioral Health Professional supports the work of ORCS staff through training and consultation.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings and documentation of services.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Conducts behavioral health assessments.
Identifies clients’ needs in multiple domains including, but not limited to, mental health, physical health, housing, income, and community resources.
Works with clients to develop services plans that include goals, objectives, and action steps.
Provides clinical services in the form of brief intermittent psychotherapy, and crisis intervention.
Tracks clients’ progress on identified goals and adapts interventions to address barriers to progress.
Makes referrals to providers and services in the community.
Coordinates services with ORCS staff as well as other departments within Louisville Metro Government, legal entities, and external partners.
Documents all services in the required electronic record systems.
Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and recommends improvements.
Participates in program planning and development.
Provides in-service training when appropriate.
Participates in team meetings and departmental meetings.
Attends meetings with community groups to provide information and answer questions regarding ORCS programs and services.
Adheres to standard precautions.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or a related field.
Five (5) years of behavioral health experience, of which two (2) years must be as a practicing therapist.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Must have an active professional license in the State of Kentucky (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs light to medium work that involves frequent walking or standing and involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
