How You'll Create Possibilities

As a Senior Cost Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our mission to develop accurate and comprehensive cost models for casting and machined parts. You will utilize state-of-the-art should costing software and leverage your extensive knowledge and experience in casting and machining to drive cost-effective solutions. Your insights and expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping our future cost model updates and releases.

Responsibilities:

  • Component Cost Analysis: Perform thorough cost analysis throughout the program life, ensuring precision and efficiency.

  • Should Cost Modeling: Utilize advanced costing software to establish part should cost and tooling cost targets for castings and machined parts, supporting engineering and sourcing.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Provide invaluable expertise to engineering and sourcing teams, offering alternative design and process solutions based on your experience and software outputs.

  • Supplier Collaboration: Analyze supplier quotes, working collaboratively to achieve mutually agreeable should cost and tooling cost targets using the should cost software program.

  • Cost Structure Research: Investigate the cost structure, including materials and manufacturing methods, for various manufacturing processes typical in the production of assigned commodities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage material cost and design knowledge, driving cost of poor-quality improvements and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating techniques, influencing the should costing software program for casting and machined parts.

  • Design and Sourcing Integration: Apply should cost methodology throughout the design and sourcing/procurement processes.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial) or related technical discipline.

  • 5 years of experience in engineering or a related field.

  • Profound knowledge of casting (die, investment, & sand) and machining manufacturing processes.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret technical data.

  • Prior experience in supplier communications.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Willingness to travel as required (up to 5%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration.

  • 7+ years of experience in engineering or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in cost management/analysis and supplier innovation/collaboration.

  • CPCE Certification.

  • Knowledge of casting tooling.

  • Strong statistical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Previous experience in supplier negotiations.

  • Hands-on knowledge of electromechanical assemblies.
