Position Description:

Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Data Management and Analysis: Lead the collection, management, and analysis of complex datasets, ensuring data integrity and leveraging advanced statistical and mixed methods to support research on rural postsecondary pathways,

  • Project Management: Manage and coordinate project activities, ensuring timely completion of research tasks, data collection, and analysis while collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  • Grant Development: Contribute to the development of grant proposals related to the project’s research focus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D or Ed.D in education, economics, public policy, or another related field.

  • Expertise in using quasi-experimental research methods, particularly those suited for analyzing large-scale and longitudinal datasets using STATA or R.

  • Proficiency in qualitative data collection/analysis.

  • Evidence of research collaborations involving practitioners or other relevant educational stakeholders.

  • An established or emerging research agenda focused on translating research into practice, especially in rural education settings.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of rural education settings and challenges.

  • Experience with CCSSE community college survey of student engagement or similar data/tools.

  • Potential for developing or evidence of a significant record of scholarship (research, publication, funding).

  • Experience in survey design and analysis, especially in rural contexts.

  • Experience managing large-scale, team-based projects that involve both data collection and analysis activities.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed.
