First Atlantic Health Care CNA Training Class - Varies Variable Shifts in Machias, Maine

As a CNA, you will be able to help people who are sick or injured. You will work with the nurses and other healthcare professionals and have many responsibilities that will make you an integral part of the patient care process. While being a CNA is often considered an entry-level position, it is a great stepping stone to other healthcare professions. You can work for us during your CNA training and / or after you have received your CNA certificate. POSITION SUMMARY: First Atlantic HealthCare’s Maine State Approved 12-week class teaches you the fundamentals of delivering safe patient care and becoming a valuable part of the healthcare team. This exciting CNA training opportunity is offered free to future employees of First Atlantic HealthCare facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To be successful in a student CNA role, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty. Essential CNA Student Functions Statement(s): * Enjoy working with people. * Able to function in a fast-paced environment. * Willing to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic nursing care under the direction of a licensed nurse. * Capable of becoming part of a clinical team that provides compassionate and individualized hands-on care to residents. * Have the physical and mental health necessary to perform CNA duties- lifting, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and the ability to be patient and courteous. * Possess the verbal and written communication skills to safely follow directions, explain the care you will give, follow written care plans, and document the care given. * Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at the 9th Grade Level. SKILLS and ABILITIES: Experience: None required; we are happy to provide CNA training to qualified applicants. Computer Skills: Must be able to interact with our computer-based Electronic Medical Record. Prerequisites: Be at least 18 years of age with High School Diploma or equivalent. Take the CASAS Reading Comprehension Assessment-Level D (this screening is free and scheduled as part of the application process). Attendance: Must commit to meeting the 180-hour State of Maine attendance requirements for CNA certification: 110 hours of classroom/lab training and 70 hours of clinical training. Course entrance is contingent upon receiving excellent references, passing the Maine State Background Check, and completing an application packet.
