About the Operations Graduate Program

If you are up for the challenge of developing our future Operations and want to be a part of the innovative world of Volvo Group, this is the graduate program for you! 

During 15 intense and exciting months, our Operations Graduate Program will give you a holistic view of our operational and logistic activities, including both the local and global perspective. You will be working with the technologies of tomorrow, building the products of the future – electric, connected, and automated. In parallel, you will grow as a person, through individual and team development sessions.

You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will experience several local and international job rotations and work on business-critical projects developing your competencies for tomorrow. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end-to-end supply chain, aftermarket parts and our remanufacturing operations. In addition, you will gather with other program participants to take part in trainings and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group. What you will do

Our organization:

Lehigh Valley Operations (LVO) is responsible for producing Mack Trucks for North American customers and export markets. As part of that, the Manufacturing Engineering Team is responsible for defining and optimizing the Assembly Operation processes of all Mack Trucks. Our mission includes the support of current production and new products, all new capital industrial projects, development of lean processes using the Mack Performance System (MPS), and the adaptation of modern technology and Ways of Working defining new era of transportation.

Our highly motivated manufacturing engineering and maintenance team drives technologies, processes, and equipment into our existing assembly operations to ensure our products' safety, quality, and delivery. As a part of this larger group, your team focuses on the tools & equipment that allow us to assemble every Mack Truck. To take the next leap in our equipment management journey, our team learns and develops modern technologies and systems to meet the needs of our factory today while ensuring we are ready for the products of tomorrow. We ensure that the equipment we are introducing is safe to operate, designed for maintainability, and enables world-class machine availability. We have the freedom to challenge current limitations, implement proof of concepts, and build upon our successes and failures. We challenge each other and strive for continuous improvement, while maintaining balance by working hard and having fun.

How you will make an impact:

In this role you will research, develop, and gain competence around emerging equipment technologies, systems, and methods to further advance our current manufacturing processes. You will also work on implementing, scaling, and maintaining solutions that power our production systems. With great freedom to innovate, you will play a key role in world-class manufacturing of the next generation of Mack products.

Main activities and responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies used to deploy and maintain tools and equipment within the Mack Trucks LVO Cab & Vehicle Assembly facilities

  • As part of a cross functional team, implement new systems and ways-of-working for maintaining production assets in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

  • Investigate and integrate standards in Early Equipment Management (EEM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Focus Areas

  • Further expand the Mack Performance System (MPS) focus area roadmaps in EEM and PM

  • Drive digitalization and technology transformation to support the EEM and PM roadmaps

  • Investigate and create partnerships with vendors to solve current manufacturing problems and support future manufacturing needs

  • Engage with stakeholders to identify problems and help implement solutions to support business KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) such as Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Overall Line Efficiency (OLE)

  • Develop synergies with other competence areas including safety, quality, operations, and process engineering to create collaborative solutions for our factory

  • Drive engagement and competence development to accelerate the technology transformation throughout all levels of the organization

Required knowledge/experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, data science or engineering-related field

  • 0-2 years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.

  • Solid communication skills and proficiency in English
