Product Quality Inspector Job Functions: Job Summary This position reports to the Quality Management Production Supervisor and performs incoming and in-process inspection of development, prototype or complex production components, subassemblies, and completed gensets. Job Functions (Essential) Perform all incoming inspections of components and assemblies per procedures and specifications. Perform all in-process and final product quality inspections. Perform containment inspections in the warehouse for nonconforming components. Assist in root cause investigations, internal quality audits, and data analysis to support quality improvement activities. Perform audits to assess compliance with company procedures. Implement and maintain production quality system. Observe internal control procedures and evaluate their effectiveness. Review existing business processes to identify inefficiencies in processing and potential weaknesses that may cause inaccurate processing. Escalate findings to Quality Management Production Supervisor and plant managers for documentation. Responsible for following procedures and the company's quality system. Responsible for following safety and environmental procedures. Procedures can be found on our company intranet. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct. Perform special projects as required. Posting Title: Product Quality Inspector Location: MTU Onsite Energy (Mankato, MN) Functional Area: Quality Management FLSA Code: Non-Exempt Employment Type: OED - Non-Exempt Qualifications: Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Required: 2 years in a mechanical, engine or automotive trade school or equivalent associate degree and 2 years of quality inspection experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment; or 5 years of quality inspection experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment Intermediate blueprint reading skills with a high attention to detail. Experience in gauge calibration and engine inspection. Intermediate knowledge and experience with torque equipment and standard measurement equipment such as micrometers, calipers, borescopes and gage blocks Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards. Basic ability to work independently and a strong desire to continuously learn and improve Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Basic interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees Basic oral and written communication skills Basic reading, writing and math skills Must be a team player by supporting other activities in the Department as required Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lb. range Basic PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate computer terminals and scanning devices Working knowledge on Lean Principles (5S, Kaizen etc.) Experience with calibration lab management software (Indysoft, Gauge Track, etc.) and using torq wrench devices.
